Clo Insulation
In 2019, Clo Insulation was privileged to partner with K-Way South Africa and WWF on a project combining responsible materials, technical performance and environmental conservation. Clo Insulation supplied K-Way South Africa with Eco Pluma, our insulation made from 100% recycled polyester fibres derived from plastic bottles. It was used to create a custom recycled puffer jacket range for WWF.Â

WWF is one of the world’s leading conservation organisations, working to protect wildlife, restore natural habitats and address major environmental challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss and pressure on natural resources.
In South Africa, WWF supports the protection of important landscapes, oceans, freshwater systems and vulnerable species. It also works with communities, businesses and governments to encourage more sustainable ways of living and working. This made the partnership about more than producing a jacket. It showed how organisations can work together to reduce environmental impact while supporting a wider commitment to protecting the natural world.
Eco Pluma was developed by Clo Insulation as a responsible alternative to traditional insulation. Approximately 40 plastic bottles are used to produce 1kg of Eco Pluma fibre, helping give plastic waste a valuable new purpose. The recycled fibres are processed to create an ultra-fine, soft and flexible insulation that provides warmth and comfort without unnecessary bulk.

Eco Pluma is also highly packable. The K-Way South Africa puffer jacket could be compressed into a small drawstring bag and easily carried inside a rucksack, making it ideal for travel and outdoor exploration. The project brought together K-Way South Africa’s garment expertise, WWF’s conservation mission and Clo Insulation’s recycled insulation technology to create a product with genuine purpose.
